In January 2017, we recorded two songs for a split project with a band that we truly appreciate. Since this project has been unfortunately canceled, we decided to release these songs now, by themselves.

The first song is a tribute to one of our favorite songwriter, Ian Masters, from the band Pale Saints. In late 2016, in preparation for this project, we undertook the difficult task of doing our own interpretation of the song “Hunted” from Pale Saints’ 1992 masterpiece, In Ribbons. This was no easy effort ; the more we dug into this song, the more we realized all the genius behind it. Our version of “Hunted” would also mark Stephanie’s first time taking the lead on vocals, as we all thought her voice would fit perfectly with Ian Masters’ singular voice.

The second song, Wall of Ice, is a new song that we played a few times live in the past couple of months. This song was created with some new ideas floating around at the time.

Ces deux chansons ont été enregistrées au mois de janvier 2017 dans le cadre d’un projet annulé de split qui devait être produit avec un groupe que nous apprécions particulièrement.

Nous avons décidé de rendre hommage à l’un de nos musiciens préférés, Ian Masters du groupe Pale Saints. Nous avons entrepris la difficile tâche d’interpréter à notre image la chanson “Hunted” se retrouvant sur le chef d’oeuvre In Ribbons paru en 1992. Cela s’est révélé être un grand défi alors que nous prenions conscience, en cours de travail, de tout le génie entourant la structure de cette chanson. Une première dans l’histoire du groupe, Stéphanie prend ici entièrement les devants au plan vocal car nous étions persuadé qu’elle était la mieux placée afin de rendre justice à la voix si singulière de Ian Masters.

Pour la deuxième chanson, Wall of Ice, nous avons expérimenté quelques nouvelles idées que nous avions jadis en tête.
